René Herbst 1891-1982
Born and educated in Paris, Herbst continued his studies abroad in London and Frankfurt.
Here he developed his architectural interests through collaboration with various studios.
At this time, his interests also peaked in modern design.
By the early 1920’s, he was drawing much attention displaying his work at the Paris salons.
Herbst had a visual respect for the properties of metal, which constructed itself in his innovative designs using metal tubing and elastic springs.
By 1926, he was well known for his simple but creative nickel plated metal designs.
His architectural talents were also realized through movie sets, shop decoration, galleries, restaurants and businesses. Herbst remained disciplined in the use of simple, industrial materials and groundbreaking classic design. | | | |
